Blog #1

Here we are, my last semester of college. Tell me what happened to the time! From experience, I know this semester will be the fastest one yet. The last three quite literally felt like a month. I’ve heard that despite the expectation that this last semester will go by the fastest, it will go even faster. With that being said, the deadline for my capstone project will show up in a blink of an eye. That date will serve as one of many reminders that there really isn’t much time left.

As of now, I have sixty-two days until faculty review day and I don’t have much to show for it so this first blog will be brief. My plan was to start sooner. However, I ran into some unexpected academic hurdles. After a major knee surgery, only one of six professors told me I could not finish the course (even though it was the same amount of work I had to finish for the other five courses). So, since that professor decided to be unnecessarily burdensome, I had to push starting my capstone back a month. Although, I probably would have started around the same time either way. I feel like I haven’t done much at all but I also know that an idea, plan, outline, and laying a foundation is preliminary and vital. That’s where I’m at. I haven’t started my website yet but I did spend about an hour installing the software I’ll be using to create it. I did some scheduling work which allowed me a better grip and vision on what I need to do going forward. The software is installed and ready to go, I have a decent but tentative schedule, and I have most of my sources. The name of the game now is content. Starting this week I need to do a bit more planning of what the site will specifically have in it. This way I can get my hands dirty and start creating. I have a feeling that it’s a good idea to break it down into segments and focus on one at a time. My next move is to come up with a solid outline for the content of the project. Once I have that I’m set.
