Cableguys is one of many high-quality, reliable, and innovative sources for music production. Today I am here to share their Halftime plugin that has recently gained lots of popularity within the producer community. This plugin is truly a must-have and here is why. In essence, Halftime is a time-stretching plug-in that manipulates the timing and speed of a sample or anything you have already recorded. It works with any audio which means you can apply it to loops, virtual instruments, and even live input. Once equipped, you have several choices for how it will transform your audio. The first set of options determines the speed and how much the audio will be slowed-down. You can choose between 1.5x, 2x, and 4x. 1.5x creates a swing or triplet feel and if you know any music theory, will bring out perfect fifth harmonies. Then there is 2x which is the classic “half speed” effect that so many people are using. This setting will slow the audio down and bring out deep octaves. Lastly, 4x is the slowest and transforms audio down to quarter-speed.

Furthermore, you have the option of activating the effect in your track instantly, or to fade it in and out gradually, which opens up endless creative possibilities. Of course there is also the loop-length setting which ranges from sixteenth notes all the way to eight bars, and sixteen bars for fades. In my opinion, the coolest feature in this plugin is the band split. This simply means that you can apply the effect to only the bass, the midrange, or the treble. The option to isolate this effect in terms of frequency range is quite useful. Halftime also has a dry/wet parameter that allows you to mix the original audio with the new slowed audio. As you can see, the possibilities are endless with Halftime. And the best part of all is the great price! A plug-in useful at any level of music production sold at a low price.
