Today I am here to tell you about a new plugin I installed just last night. It is iZotope’s Ozone Imager. This is a stereo imaging plugin so it is more of a utility opposed to an instrument. It allows you to narrow or widen a stereo signal. A stereo signal simply means audio information is coming from the left and right, such as in your headphones or a set of speaker monitors. The opposite of stereo is mono, where the sound is coming from the center only. A stereo imager such as the Ozone Imager can widen a mono signal and improve the quality of the sound, adding fullness and clarity. When working in stereo it also can turn a dull track into an impactful one.

Above is a screenshot I took of the plugin. As you can see it has a stunning aesthetic, something iZotope is proud of. There are three parameter options: Polar Sample, Polar Level, and Lissajous. In the screenshot above, you can see that it is set to Polar Sample. The blue fuzzy stuff is a visual representation of the width of your signal and moves around giving you real-time feedback. The far left width slider controls how wide your signal will be in your ears. You can add this plug-in to your master chain or to just one track. The best part is that its free! To improve the quality of your mix and to add warmth and fullness to your tracks, this is a great plugin to add to your arsenal.
